Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is an educational approach that focuses on developing students' abilities to understand and manage their emotions, set positive goals, show empathy for others, establish positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. By incorporating SEL into our classrooms, educators create a supportive environment that nurtures students' emotional well-being and social skills. Research shows that when schools prioritize SEL, students experience improved academic performance, positive behavior, and improved mental wellness. SEL helps create a positive school climate, fostering collaboration and respect among students, which ultimately leads to a more engaged and thriving learning community.
SAEBRS/MySAEBRS assesses self-management, self-awareness, responsible decision making, relationship skills, and social awareness. MySAEBRS is a student rated assessment, while SAEBRS is the teacher-rated companion. Having both teachers and students complete the screener will help us gain a complete picture of students' social-emotional functioning and well-being.
